Four Tips For Purchasing Contact Lenses Online

Contact lenses can be a great purchase because it gives you the benefit of not having to wear big, bulky glasses. Instead, you can see clearly without it appearing as if you have anything on. In order to ensure that you buy the right contacts for you though, you will want to be sure that you follow the following four purchase tips:

  1. Use Your Current Prescription: If you need new contacts, but you have not received a new prescription for contact lenses in the past year, you may want to wait until the prescription is updated. This is because prescriptions expire and it may be nearly time for yours to be renewed. During this year, your prescription needs may need to be changed because of slight changes in your sight. If you purchase new contacts before the prescription has been updated, you may not be receiving the full effect of being able to see as clearly as possible.
  2. Double Check Prescription: When you go to purchase contacts, you always want to double check the prescription that you have entered, especially if one eye has a different prescription than the other. You won't want the stronger prescription to be on your left eye if it's your right eye that actually needs it, after all.
  3. Choose the Right Type: When you are ready to purchase contact lenses, you are going to have a number of options. For example, there are contacts that are designed for daily wear or extended wear. If you are going to be wearing the contact lenses exclusively and not switch them out with glasses, especially at night, then extended wear is probably the best option for you. You will also want to consider contact lenses that are designed for a high exchange of oxygen if you suffer from dry eyes.
  4. Discuss Options with Doctor: When you are visiting your eye doctor for your yearly eye exam, always discuss your contact lens options with him or her. They can provide advice as to which type of contacts are best for you, which is especially helpful if you have any kind of eye condition that may be affected if you choose a certain type of contact lens.

By following these four tips for purchasing contact lenses online, you can be sure that you end up with the right ones for you and you aren't shipped any that will ultimately need to be returned.
